The dominant weather types of the summer-dry subtropics of Chile are shown by means of satellite-LR-imagery and surface weather charts. Their genesis is explained as an interaction of the pacific high, the polar front cyclones, the continental low and their specific air masses. Examples are given to show the consequences in Central Chile, especially in the coastal range east of Concepcion.Downloads
