Abstract

On scale of 1:50,000 the map presented in this paper shows the study area of the project “Kallawaya Mountain Tribes and Ecosystem in the Charazani Valley, Bolivia. Originally, the idea had been to provide the participants of the project with a simple working map for their studies within the central settlement area of the Kallawaya Indians, since this region has not yet been covered by any official topographic map. The map introduced here emerged from this provisional draft with the help of the cartography department of the Institute of Geography in Bonn. The cartographer D. Gladenbeck intensified the geographic information of the map by plastic relief shading, thus creating an esthetic work of art. The map now serves as a cartographic base for scientific field-work partly discussed in the literature quoted.
